The contribution you're proudest of
is the one you can least evidence.

If your organisation runs on donated professional time, the value you report is probably an estimate — hours multiplied by a notional rate, worked out centrally, once a year, by someone who wasn't there.

Owl Impact builds that number the other way round. The volunteer logs the assignment in about two minutes. Every hour is costed at a rate you agree in advance for the skill given. The total is the sum of real entries, and it breaks down by country, region, programme and month — because your regional leads each need their own figure, not a share of someone else's.

The gap that shows up when someone asks

A funder, a trustee or an incoming chief executive asks where the figure comes from. The honest answer is usually a spreadsheet, a blended rate and a best guess, held together by whoever has been there longest. It isn't wrong. It just can't be taken apart and put back together in front of a board.

How it's usually done

  • Contribution value estimated centrally at year end
  • One blended rate for every kind of professional
  • Regional managers can't see their own number
  • Before-and-after change described, not costed
  • Chasing volunteers for retrospective timesheets
A finance director's day and a marketing specialist's day aren't worth the same. Costing them as if they were is the single biggest reason donated-time figures get challenged.

The four questions a chief executive asks

Will my volunteers actually use it?

They get a personal link — no password, no app store, no training manual. It already knows who they are and what they work on. Logging an assignment is a handful of taps. It works offline and submits when they're back in signal, which matters for anyone travelling to a client.

Where does the number come from?

Rates are agreed with you at setup — per role, per category — and applied to every entry from then on. Nothing is invented mid-year. You can show a board or a funder exactly which assignments make up the total, and change the rate card without re-doing the history. Our full method →

Can I see it by country and region?

Yes — that's the point. Filter by country, region, programme, month or funder. A regional manager sees their own patch; you see the whole. The same underlying entries, sliced whichever way the conversation needs.

Are we exposing anyone's data?

We hold the name and email of the people on your team who log, so their reports reach them and their hours carry the right rate. That is all the personal data in the system.

Nothing about the people you support. Beneficiaries and the organisations you help are identified by a code, and you hold the key to who that is, offline. Codes, never names.

Built for how a national body actually works

1

Your rate card, agreed once

We set the professional categories and hourly or daily rates with you at onboarding. Trustees, board advisors and specialist roles can each carry their own rate.

2

Volunteers log as they go

Prep, travel, delivery. Seconds each. The person who did the work records it, so nobody is reconstructing a year from memory in March.

3

The return compiles itself

Costed, filtered, branded to you, ready for a board pack, an annual report or a funder. You press print.

What a national deployment includes

Every national body wants something slightly different. These are the parts that are usually in the conversation.

Customisable dashboardYour dashboard, built around the measures your strategy actually names — arranged the way your board reads them, in your branding, with the filters your regional leads need.
Bespoke trainingLive sessions for your regional managers and volunteer coordinators, built around your programmes rather than a generic walkthrough — plus recorded versions so new volunteers can self-serve.
Your rate card, your categoriesProfessional roles, trustee and board time, specialist advisors — priced and grouped the way your organisation describes them.
Country and region reportingSeparate figures for each country and region — Wales, Scotland, England, Northern Ireland — plus the consolidated UK picture, from the same set of entries.
Distance travelled, at organisation levelIf you run a before-and-after diagnostic with the organisations you support, the change can be captured alongside the time — so the value and the outcome sit on one page.
Aggregate insight across your networkPatterns across everyone you support: what's most requested, where the need concentrates, what's shifting year to year.

What your regional leads open on a Monday

Every tool is a moon, and every moon carries its own figure in its own colour — costed activity, outcomes, distance travelled, donated time. One glance tells you where the month is. Tap a moon and you are inside the detail.

Sample figures for a fictional organisation. Your own numbers appear once your team starts logging.

What it costs

Priced around what you actually need.

We scope it with you first, so you pay for the parts that earn their place. What shapes the number:

  • How many people will be logging
  • How many countries, regions or programmes need their own view
  • Whether you want a customisable dashboard built to your strategy
  • How much bespoke training and rollout support your teams need

Tell us what you need to be able to show, and to whom. We'll scope it with you and put a firm number against it — no obligation, and you'll know exactly what each part is for. Many organisations start with one country or region and extend once it's earning its keep.

Twenty minutes, and you'll see the real thing

Not slides. The live product, with sample data, showing exactly what your volunteers would see and what would land on your desk at month end.
